I'll chime in from my own experiences from searching for a women with which to have a long-term relationship. I can sum it up in one word:

Monogamy.

Now, maybe I'm just looking for people in the wrong places. Maybe I'm just too old to hang out in a rave club, I dunno. What I _do_ know is that the women I contact flat out reject me because of my bisexuality (and in fact, on two occasions, have been told, "You'd be the perfect man for me if you weren't bisexual").

Of course, I could lie, hide my sexuality, and then get some man-to-man sex on the side, but that is not my character (and in fact, I find such behaviour reprehensible, but that's a different subject matter). The simple fact is that I'm up front about my bisexuality, which has clearly closed a LOT of doors.

Women, generally speaking, seek comfort and security in a long-term relationship with a male (and frankly, I'd say men seek the same in women, although slightly less so). Being bisexual tells a women right up front that you will _not_ be monogamous with her. For many women, this is totally unacceptable. Sure, I know of couples were one or both are bi and they're monogamous, but this is the exception. We can talk about all the social issues of males accepting females as being bi, and even openly encouraging it, but I think there's a deeper issue here. A male doesn't feel threatened at losing his girlfriend/spouse to another woman. In fact, most men would just gladly add the other woman to his harem. A female, on the other hand, has an almost biological need to prevent her chosen mate from straying, whether it's to another male OR female.

Maybe this is cultural, maybe its instinctive, I don't know. Maybe I'm full of crap. What I _do_ know is that, in our mainstream world, there is NO reward for a bi male being honest about his sexuality.
