The truth of it is that it's really hard to know if someone is real. We've seen some people go to great extents to protect their lies and false identity. Though before we go further, just because someone doesn't want to get together with YOU (or another member) does NOT mean they are fake. We've heard the word "fake" used incorrectly many times. A person can be very real, and just not be ready or just simply may not like the person or the situation to follow through with it. This does not make them "fake". As we've said, sometimes it's hard to tell if someone is real. The Internet makes it very easy to lie about almost anything. The reality of it is just because you see a person emailing, comments, im'ing, texting - there is no guarantee who that person is on the other end. The most you can really assume is it's a person. (Though now a days, that can even be questionable with computers technology :) ) Unfortunately, you can't even take your friends words because they might assume someone is real based on some simple thing like they saw them speak in chat once. Simply put if you really want to verify someone is real you need to see them with YOUR own eyes, or possibly ears. Many of our BP verifiers will only verify if they see the person in person or webcam because they know pictures can be faked and words can be made up. So what can you do to make sure someone is real? Our best suggestion is to see them in person through webcam or some other similar means. If that's not possible, try to at least use the phone. This should weed out a bunch of true "fakes".
