I think people who have limited experience with these things should reserve their judgement. The gay scene is large enough to encompass many different types of people, and just because you don't fit the stereotype doesn't mean that there is nobody compatible in the whole "scene". There is so much more to gay life than bars, clubs, alcohol, drugs, and parties (not that there's anything wrong with those things in moderation). Dig deeper and you'll find something you like!
Also, I see a lot of judgement, mostly coming from people who are single, towards couples who have chosen not to be monogamous. I don't think my commitment to my partner is any less than anyone else's because we play occasionally. I know few couples who are as solid as we are. We should raise each other up rather than put each other down, and celebrate the differences within our community. Remember that many would judge all of us that desire anybody of the same sex. I'm tired of judgemental attitudes coming from within our community, and of people who consider themselves "alternative" being just as narrow in their views as the mainstream
