Recently I was in the chatroom and a member said they really believed in BP and asked how they could help. First, I want to say thank you to them as well as anyone who has asked us that. We REALLY appreciate your support, kindness and wanting to help! There are alot of really wonderful members on BP and we appreciate all of you.
I wanted to post the answer here. So, of course there are the obvious ways.
1. Upgrading your account supports the site and allows us to stay open and giving new people free trials. This allows us to keep the site free of ads, and so much more. I can't say thank you enough to every paid member!
2. Let others know about BP. Word of mouth is actually how so many learned about us back in 2002 when we started the site, and it still remains extremely helpful today. There are so many sites out there so its a daily challenge not to get lost among them.
Ways you can help on the site:
Even though having a free trial is very helpful at letting others try out our site, it also is an easy door to scammers and spammers. We disable so many people every single day who are trying to use the site for these purposes. We couldn't do it alone and rely on other members who want to keep BP a clean, safe place to meet others. So here are some situations or people that should be reported using any of the Report Tools on the site. Don't think "oh someone else will do it", because Scammers and Spammers work fast! If they can't get what they need from you, they will quickly move onto some other innocent member.
1. Report anyone who is trying to charge you money.
2. Report anyone who is spamming you links to other sites.
3. Report anyone who is trying to scam you - anything from blackmail or trying to force or trick you to do something you don't want to do.
4. Report anyone who is clearly not what they are listed as in their profile. For example, a female listed as a male. Or someone underage. They will be booted off immediately.
5. Use the complaint features for someone being really cruel. With enough complaints, they will be temporarily (or permanently) removed from the site.
To those who already report these kind of people. Thank you so much! You have helped countless members and keep BP a nice safe place to meet others.
More simple ways include things that so many of you are already doing. Just being here and using the site in whatever way is interesting to you. Also helping new members who are new to the site and new to the lifestyle and have questions is so important too. I see these kinds of members in chat, forums, interests and more!
Beyond that, reporting issues with the site directly to us or writing it in Site Suggestions. Bill and I do our best to test before we make a new feature available. However with constantly changing browsers and computers, its a challenge to make sure it all working smoothly with everyone. So if you see a page that isn't working right, or something that could be working better, let us know! Chances are you aren't the only one who would benefit from the fix!
