The Michigan State Police tell me they have no record of a fatal accident involving the person you named in your e-mail.

I can find no record of us reporting a fatal accident anywhere in our viewing area, which stretches from Clare to Soo, Canada and from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron.


I can only hope your information was mistaken and there was no such accident.

Ok I need to chime in here since this is being read in several ways it seems :( The michigan bbq is not site sponsored.... there is no charge to come to it (nor will there be in the future...... well other then travel and lodging for those who arent local)... and all are welcome to attend. Even though we would love to be able to meet everyone, I DO understand that not all are able to come to the bbq because of logistics and finances (and every year we are humbled by the ones that go to great lengths and expense to come out here). We encourage anyone to put together a meet and greet in other areas, whether it be a bbq or whatever. I think it is awesome when folks who talk online are able to meet face to face and was the initial intent when we hosted the very first one seven years ago -at the time just for a few localish people (so we thought). Since then the Michigan BBQ has taken on a life of its own through the great people that have become regulars every year and each year bring new friends and great times.

I happen to know at least 4 couples who have connected and eventually married.

I know of many many more who have met other members on here and had a great time! Many of them still meet.

Just check out the Michigan Meet and Great they have every year. Members from Canada even come and have been going since the very first one! It is open to all BP members from all over, not just Michigan.

I'm gonna plead the 5th on the rest of em, but felt I had to say something about that one. It may be true of other places, but if one reads, the articles, is patient, completes their profile, posts in forums and comes in chat to meet up with others (yes just because you don't see anyone from where you are still come in) and remember many members are willing to travel, then members can enjoy BP just like I have the last 14 yrs and continue to do so.
