Greetings all!

I'd like to get everyone's input on something. Give me your thoughts on Chat ettiquite. In other words, what things bother you, disrupt chat or just make it no fun. I'm going to draft a set of "rules" to submit to Bill and Pattie for possible placement on the chat room entrance page so everyone who goes into a chat room is fairly given the same info BEFORE they enter the chat. If Bill and Pattie approve it and chatters don't read it before they enter the chat, it's their fault! :)

So, everyone give your thoughts and ideas here. Maybe we'll be able to enhance the chat for everyone!!

I can read chat but I cant chat. I have chat work for me in Yahoo and thats Java ..why Cant I chat here? Can anyone help ?

In chat sometimes it can get very busy. It may be hard to follow convos unless one is glued to the chat screen because chats really moving. Add to chat all of us putting up pics and it can really be a lot of fun but chaotic.

Now add people new and old who enter chat and enter chat and enter chat over and over and over. I am not talking about the person who accidentally hits the back space, or gets booted out of chat because another rude member sent an IM without emailing and asking permission. (sorry but yes some people send IM's without reading profiles to people who do not want to be IM'd then they get booted out of chat when the IM notification comes up)

I am referring to these people who come in chat and for the next 10 min continue to come in and out at least 3-4 times it seems every min or so. Then they decide ok now they are determined to stay so spend the next 1-2 hours or more continuing to go in and out of chat being disruptive at the same time, making snide comments then poofing once again. Or the person who says they aren't having a prob just like to read the entrance quotes!! (yes that has actually been said to me) etc for whatever reason...

When this continues it not only gets annoying, it makes it difficult to follow chat..... Is it possible to set some sort of counter so if someone enters chat and continuously leaves and returns say 3xs in 5 minutes then they have to wait 15 minutes to try again. If they continue then they have to wait 30 maybe up to an hour then ban em from chat for the day?

It would sure make it easier to chat if you could do something like this.

Yet you go in and whole side bar says everyone is idle. I wonder more why people come into chat and then don't talk? I have this happen all the time where someone enters, say 5 members welcome that person and they never respond to anyone. What is the purpose of coming in chat if one is not going to speak?
