WildcatsInMo	From a parent of young children, I don't believe I would want a law like that passed in my town, even if for a day. I don't feel anyone should be ashamed of their body or nudity. I don't teach my kids that sex is bad or that nudity is bad, however, I feel there is a time and place for it. Kids are starting to have sex at a younger age every day. For me, if my children were to see that nudity at a young age in public, it would make me worry that they think it's acceptable anytime, anywhere. How do you explain to a 4 or 5 year old what a penis or vagina is and what they are for? Then if you are an honest parent and go into the sex talk and letting them know it is natural, it is what God intended it for, and that it feels good, they are going to want to try it as soon as they get the chance. With all the STD's and teen pregnancy going on, I don't want my children in that situation any sooner than they have to be. Nudity is great, but I personally feel there is a time and a place for it, and out in the public for everyone, including children to see it, is not the place for it. If one goes to the vacation resorts of Europe, for example, nudity is an accepted and legal activity almost everywhere. The problem seems to stem from this country's general public having a mindset that equates nudity with sex. And as several other posters have stated, nothing could be further from the facts.To show how twisted this can get, a former friend of mine ended up with a pregnant teenage daughter who said she had never had sex. How did she know she had not had sex? Because she said she had never taken all her clothes off! And I think the association of nudity with sex is a major part of the problem. The idea of a nude bike ride in Seattle one day a year is an attempt to promote the idea that things other than sex can happen in the nude. I belong to a nudist club, and at that club (as at home) I am naked 24/7. I go swimming, camping, hiking, play tennis, volleyball and basketball, go to dinner, sit around a campfire at night, participate in motorcycle rallies, have wine and cheese parties, and anything else you can think to do with clothes on - as does everyone else. And in all the years I've been doing this, NO ONE ever made any kind of comment of a sexual nature, nor has anyone ever had sex in public. It is not part of the nudist experience. However, I HAVE had sex with people I met there. The whole social interaction that leads to sex is, I think, actually a healthier approach. Because you already know what someone looks like naked, the prurient interest in just getting past the clothes does not exist, and you are interested in being intimate with someone because of who they are as a person, not what they look like. My personal belief is, if people would get past the sexual connotation of the nude body, and try to see people for who they are rather than what they look like, we would all be much better off - but Victoria's Secret might go out of business! :):) Send Mail IM
Vilhelm007	Florida has pretty lax nudity laws! In FL, if you can be seen by the public, even on your own property you can be charged with indecent exposure. My children and a few family members were raised up around nudity so it does not phase them in the least when they come to visit either. However, because of our American social views and culture I will slip on a t-shirt and pair of shorts when we have company over who is not use to nudity or when we go out to do some shopping or have run errands. However, we frequently visit nudist beaches and resorts during our travels and have been fortunate to find some secluded areas at our favorite campground, hiking area, and beach here in Pensacola, Fl. We had a wonderful nude beach at San Onofre State in SoCal. But overt sex on the beach and in the restrooms ruined it for everyone. The State Park authorities and Camp Pendleton who had been tolerant and supportive had to ban nudity.
